Hi! I'm studying Material Engineering, but more importantly, I'm teaching myself how to art, in my free time. I'm one of those people who found out they'd rather spend their lives drawing AFTER they signed up for the wrong lifestyle. So in my free time I'm trying to improve my skills in character design, comics, storyboarding, and general visual storytelling.

Going to miss the daily sketch today. Went to see a musical with an old friend and didn't get the time. Also since I'm not home I can't update with old art. Sorry.
Daily Sketch 37
Just a quick sketch of a bayonet I still have back at home.
One of the only knives I own that's actually quite sharp.

The daily suggestion on reddit was Spiderman. I had the feeling everyone would try and be creative and draw spiders as humans, so I decided I'd stick to the direct interpretation of the suggestion.
This dude is seriously the king of awkward yet awesomely dynamic poses. I also think whoever invented him was like "Hey, maybe my character would look more 3d if I drew him like those 3d rigs!" Because man, those spiderwebs are great at defining form.

Daily Sketch 35
It's a dude running a marathon. I've started using a subreddit where they give a drawing theme each day, so when I can't think of anything myself, I have something to pull from. And today's theme was just "marathon."
Plus it was fun to draw a human for once. I've been spending so much time purely on faces and architecture, it's a welcome change.

Old Stuff - Weapon Designs
I really need to start setting a fixed time for my daily sketches, because I keep forgetting. ._.
Anyways, sketch or no sketch, I'm at least going to update daily, so here's some old art from waaaaaay back. Before I wanted to get better at art in general, the only stuff I would draw were swords, staffs, daggers, and hyper detailed fantasy maps of worlds I would just build on the go. I think I even still have a few of them, but I almost never finished most of them because the trees were absolutely tiny to draw and I had vast surfaces to fill out.
Tomorrow I will have a daily sketch, and once I get a fixed hour into every day, I should have one every day for ever. Or at least until I've created a habit of drawing every day, this DA series is just to try and hold me accountable.
Until then, whenever I miss a daily, I'll upload some older stuff.

Could have sworn I was watching you... Had Sneiks not mentioned it, I would have missed out.

As far as depth- is this generally correct (for a speedpaint anyway): cliffhanger Isle shore

The depth in terms of composition is good there, I merely suggest making your mountains, hills and rocks a bit more.... grounded and three dimensional. They look more like piles of semi-firm mud, which is fine if that's what you're going for, but I see it in so many of your backgrounds that I'm not sure if that is what you want. If it isn't I think doing a couple studies of different types of rock and dirt would be beneficial. Or maybe just attempting some more vibrant, verdant backgrounds - these are all very great for overcast weather like in Scotland during autumn, but again, that's all I see and I'm not sure if it's what you're going for. I can't really tell you how good your art is without knowing what the goal was - any piece can be considered good or bad, depending on what it's purpose is.

Also, unrelated note, but something I noticed - the animation in your profile looks off. In general when walking, the body moves up and down slightly, and the tail would definitely be moving as well. It comes off a bit unnatural when only the legs move.

The goal was to just correctly portray the depth.

The animation is pacing- limbs on the same side move together in a 'trot' like motion. I also animated the trot but I'll probably put that up to avoid confusion.
